Teen Personal Safety Class on Thursday, November 5th @ 3pm

CATEGORY: Caregivers, Events, Featured, News Updates | DATE: September 30, 2020

The Louisiana Bar Foundation & the Baton Rouge Children’s Advocacy Center has teamed up to offer this FREE Abuse Awareness & Prevention from the Child Help: Speak Up Be Safe curriculum, specifically developed for middle & high school students (6th – 12 grade). Parents & caregivers interested are welcomed & encouraged to attend. This interactive one-hour lesson will cover personal safety, types of abuse, online safety, and abuse prevention & reporting rules & other important safety techniques.
Consider these FACTS:
– 1 out of 5 children are solicited sexually while using the internet;
– 1 out 10 children are abused before the age of 18;
– 90% of who report abuse actually knew their abuser(s);
– Most alarmingly … a recent study revealed that 80% of 21-year-olds who reported childhood abuse met the criteria for at least one psychological disorder.
It is easy to see why it is absolutely vital that all children receive knowledge & understanding of what abuse is, how to prevent abuse, and most importantly … how to report it.
