FREE Elementary Personal Safety (Abuse Prevention) Class on November 5th @ 4:30pm

CATEGORY: Caregivers, Events, Featured | DATE: September 29, 2020

The Louisiana Bar Foundation & the Baton Rouge Children’s Advocacy Center has teamed up to offer you this FREE Abuse Awareness & Prevention from the Child Help: Speak Up Be Safe curriculum, specifically developed for elementary aged children (1st – 5th grade).
Parents & caregivers are encouraged to attend, especially to provide tech support for younger children. This interactive one-hour lesson will cover personal safety and abuse prevention, safety rules, and reporting rules.
If you haven’t made up your mind on whether your child should attend yet, please consider these FACTS:
– 1 out 10 children are abused before the age of 18;
– 90% of who report abuse actually knew their abuser(s);
– Most alarmingly … a recent study revealed that 80% of 21-year-olds who reported childhood abuse met the criteria for at least one psychological disorder.
It is easy to see why it is absolutely vital that all children receive knowledge & understanding of how to stay safe.
