Blue Cross and Blue Shield Presents BRCAC a Big Check!

On Wednesday, September 9th Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana Foundations CEO, Michael Titpton, presented the Baton Rouge Children’s Advocacy Center a check for $50,000 for the Angels of Change award. The BRCAC Trauma Response and Recovery Program provides an array of trauma-informed services onsite by trained professionals to children and families traumatized by child sexual/physical abuse and violent crime. BRCAC Board members Sue Bernie and Virginia Person were former BCBS Angel award winners and nominated the organization for the award. BRCAC is one of only 20 statewide recipients of the Angels of Change awards.

BRCAC Welcomes Moriah Smalls
Community Outreach Coordinator

AmeriCorps VISTA member Moriah Smalls has relocated from Baltimore, Maryland to serve as the Community Outreach Coordinator here with us at the Baton Rouge CAC. An alumna of Towson University with a  Bachelor’s Degree in Family Studies & Human Services-Services to Children & Youth, she is a LGSW Candidate in The Catholic University of America’s Masters of Social Work Program.  She has worked for The Boys & Girls Clubs and has completed a number of service projects with The Family Tree of Maryland, The Kennedy Krieger Institute and Loving Arms. Inc. She enjoys traveling, adventure and meeting new people. She looks forward to getting involved & serving the Baton Rouge community this year.

The Valluzzo Co., LLC Franchise of McDonald’s donated meal cards to the Baton Rouge Children’s Advocacy Center. Cards are given to families during their visit at the site. Thank you McDonald’s!
